HEAT PLAY OFF SEMI FINAL
Apr 26, 2013, 12:04 pm

Heat play Cougars on Saturday 27th April in the Under 11 Sussex League Play off Semi Final! Go Heat!

Heat vs Worthing D & D, 16th March 2013
Mar 22, 2013, 8:05 am

The second match of the day was to be our last home game of the season, against Worthing D&D. We had lost our first encounter early in the season so were ready, especially at this stage so close to the play offs, to make amends! We had a strong team and a full bench this time round and were able to pull away in the first quarter.

Our rebounding and defence continue to make a difference, and the ability to see the pass ahead means we can keep the fast break running.

Seven wins in a row...and the third spot in the play offs looks ours. Last regular season match next week, against Phoenix.....

Heat won 65 - 39

Heat vs Cougars A - March 16th, 2013
Mar 22, 2013, 7:51 am

In the first of our two matches of the day we traveled to Cougars to play their second team. It was a great opportunity to field our younger players and many congratulations to William and Felix on playing their first match, and scoring their first basket for Heat in their debut game! Looking good for next season!

For the coaches it was the great team play, with the whole team helping out the younger team members on court, providing passes and assists, and helping out with defence.

Great to see, well done to all.

Heat won 63 - 35

Heat vs Haywards Heath Eagles - Fri 1st March
Mar 2, 2013, 1:30 pm

Another full bench, and another win, makes a five win streak and helps in our battle to reach the third/fourth playoff spot.

Heat lead from the start against a young less experienced side and took the opportunity to field the bench who are gaining valuable match experience for next season.

Well done to all, three matches in the regular season to go....

Eagles 29 - Heat 63

Heat vs Storm - Sat 23rd Feb
Feb 23, 2013, 3:55 pm

Heat had a full bench for today’s game, our first away game since November, and arrived in a confident mood, hoping to continue their winning streak.

The first quarter saw Heat pull away from the start and took a lead they never looked like losing.

The whole team contributed and again the teams passing game and improved defence are the foundations of the teams success. Our rebounding is much improved and allows us a far higher proportion of bank shots than in previous seasons.

Well done to all – Happy Birthday to Charlie – and we look forward to Fridays game @ Eagles.

Heat won 66 -27.

Heat vs Cougars - Sat 9th Feb
Feb 10, 2013, 2:08 pm

What an exciting Game! And our first ever win over Cougars first team!

The game was played at a fast pace from the tip with both teams determined to take the win at this stage of the season. The first quarter ebbed and flowed from one team to the other. Heats defence and rebounding, which has been improving all season, paid dividends allowing us to keep ahead and win the first quarter, 16-13.

At the start of the second quarter Heat found their shooting confidence and rhythm and started to pull away scoring 11 unanswered points. But Cougars again came back, with a 10pt-2pt run, to fairly evenly match the sides at half time, 38-33.

During the third quarter Cougars started the stronger team but, as before, Heats dominance under the boards at both ends of the court lead to a come back with a 14pt unanswered spell, making the score 52-39 at the start of the fourth quarter.

In a tense final quarter Cougars came to within 2pts of taking the lead but the Heat kept their heads took control, continuing to work hard on defence and scored some invaluable points to maintain a lead.

Thankfully Heats fitness, discipline and determination held and the team recorded an historic win!

Final score, 68-63 to the Heat! Congrats to the squad!
