Storm vs Heat - 4th December
Dec 10, 2011, 7:25 pm

Heats second win and went to the game confident of a win. Storm had a stronger team and tried really hard. It was a low scoring and difficult game with defence dominating both teams play. Heat, as always, gave their all and achieved their first league points. AWESOME!

Thanks to Mark for coaching - 100% winning record!

Heat U11 vs Storm - 12th November
Nov 13, 2011, 3:55 pm

Congratulations to the team on their first win! We had the full team attend and everyone played their part, which made the win that bit more satisfying!

In offence our passing and awareness was much improved and the scoring was spread across the team. We were able to take advantage of several steals and score the fast breaks. Players are beginning to pass ahead and it was nice to see players take as much pleasure in the assists as in the final glory of the basket! Our man to man defence is improving and players were chasing the rebound, all helping to contain the Storms points. Great work everyone and you definitely deserve the win for the fantastic team spirit.

Looking forward to our next match, on 4th December this time at the Storms home court.

Brighton Cougars vs Heat U11 - 5th November
Nov 13, 2011, 3:53 pm

It was a tough game, for players and coach alike! It started well with Adam getting his first ever basket. From then on the combination of a small court and the hustle and bustle of the Cougars defence knocked us off our stride.

The Cougars team have a little more experience than Heat and they used it to great affect with their physical style of play. We need to focus on defence and passing to allow us to compete on equal terms, however we have made great strides in our performance since last season.

Heat U11 vs Worthing D&D - 15 Oct 2011
Oct 18, 2011, 12:41 pm

In the first match of the season, Heat U11 showed what the results of the work at training in the off season can achieve. The players from last season showed their skills and confidence have improved - their passing, shooting and defence have all made a huge difference and meant they played like a team unit. Our new players, Jacob, Ryan and Adam, all playing their first basketball match, did a fantastic job.

The match started a little slowly and nervously by both teams and the first quarter had a low score with both teams finding their game. Unfortunately Worthing found their game first and pulled away from us in the second quarter. But Heat showed great determination and kept fighting for possession and managed to put into play the skills learnt in training and gradually found their feet.

In the third quarter Heat has a great spell and held Worthing to a 10-10 draw and, as their confidence grew, Heat convincingly won the last quarter, 14-8.  7 of the team contributed to the score and everyone hustled till the end – great job.

We look forward to our next match vs Brighton Cougars on Saturday 5th November.
